Hibs midfielder John McGinn has tonight completed his move to English Championship side Aston Villa.
The 23-year-old Scotland international joins the Midlands club on four-year-deal for £2.9m, with St Mirren due 33%, netting his former club £950,000.
Hibs also apparently inserted a 10% sell-on clause in his move to Villa, although this is unconfirmed.
McGinn leaves the Hibees a legend, following the Hibees 2016 Scottish Cup win, and also as part of the Scottish Championship title-winning team
He played 136 times for Hibs, scoring 18 goals.
Speaking to the official website, Hibs boss Neil Lennon said:
“He goes with everyone’s best wishes – he’s been absolutely superb on and off the pitch. He’s a joy to work with and I’ve really enjoyed watching him play.
“Hibs have been very good for him, and John has been very good for Hibs, and we wish him all the best.”
Hibs CEO Leeann Dempster added:
“John has been a fantastic servant to this club over the last three years.
“He has developed as a player and an individual in his time here – it’s been a great environment for him and his list of achievements – winners medals, international caps and now his move to a club the size of Aston Villa - is testament to that.”
Hibs-Mad would like to wish John all the best for the future - a true club legend - WE'VE GOT McGINN!!!!!!!
