According to tonight's Daily Record website, Hibs are keen on Wigan Athletic attacker Jamie McGrath.
Hibs seem to have switched their attention to McGrath after cooling their interest in Welsh midfielder Jonny Williams.
The 26-year-old Republic of Ireland international spent last season on loan with Dundee Utd, and despite a dismal season, ending in relegation for the Tannadice club, he impressed during his spell in Dundee.
McGrath has one year left on his deal with the newly relegated Latics, but may fancy a move back to the Scottish Premiership instead of playing in English League One.
Wigan, managed by former flop Hibs boss Shaun Maloney, have had financial problems lately, with players not getting paid, but have just been taken over by new owners.
However, having been relegated, they may see getting McGrath off the wage bill a good move.to free up a wage to go towards bringing in new players.
Hibs, of course, have previous with McGrath, with former boss Jack Ross coming close to landing the player from St Mirren on January transfer deadline day 2020/21, with £300,000, Scott Allan and Drey Wright heading in the other direction.
The deal falling through at the last minute when the paperwork didn't make it through in time.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
McGrath would be a really exciting signing for the Hibees.
He's a good player and knows the Scottish Premiership, following spells with Dundee Utd and St Mirren.
It looks like his time with Wigan is coming to a close, and teaming him up with the likes of Elie Youan and Martin Boyle is an exciting prospect.
Another one to keep an eye on.
