Hibs have today been linked with a move for former Celtic captain Stephen McManus.
The 30-year-old has just left Middlesbrough after his contract expired at the Riverside Stadium.
McManus has spent the last 18 months on loan at fellow Championship side Bristol City.
The Scotland international is keen to return to Scotland, and the SPL, due to family reasons, and is aware no club north of the border (outside of Celtic) could come close to the reported £15,000 a week he was on in England.
Hibs are said to be leading the chase, with preliminary talks having already taken place between McManus and boss Pat Fenlon.
Dundee Utd had also been credited with an interest, but boss Jackie McNamara has said he's not interested in signing his former team mate.
Hibees boss Fenlon is keen to bolster his defence, and is keen to bring in a no nonsense, experienced, defender to help bring on youngsters Jordon Forster and Bradley Donaldson.
McManus certainly fits the bill, having played close to 200 games for Celtic, including numerous Champions League games, he's also played close to 100 games in the Championship and has been capped 26 times at international level.
