Hibs have today been linked with a move for Dundee Utd midfielder Paul Paton.
The 28-year-old's future at Tannadice is unclear after he hit the headlines for a couple of discipline matters recently, both on and off the field.
According to reports in today's press, Hibs boss Alan Stubbs is keen to offer the Northern Ireland international an escape route.
Stubbs is keen to add another midfielder to his squad, this is despite landing former Burnley man Marvin Bartley earlier today.
The Hibees lost Liam Craig, Scott Robertson and the on loan Dylan McGeouch over the summer, and Stubbs is said to be hoping Paton can fill the gap.
Hibs want to add at least two more new faces to the squad before the season starts, and are said to also be keen on a return for McGeouch and Keith Watson, who were both on loan at Easter Road last summer.
However, talks with Celtic have been on-going all summer over a McGeouch transfer, and Stubbs could be ready to turn his intensions towards Paton instead.
Defender Keith Watson has been training with the Hibees for most of pre-season, and Stubbs is hopeful of landing the versatile defender.
