Hibs linked with Burnley defender Kevin Long

Hibs have today been linked with a move for Burnley defender Kevin Long.

According to respected journalist Alan Nixon on his patreon, the Hibees have joined Aberdeen in the chase to sign the 32-year-old.

Long is the English sides longest serving player, joining from Cork City in 2010, but he has always been a bit-part player at Turf Moor, having only played 91 games in that time.

However he does have plenty of experience, having played another 188 games in various loan spells during his time at Burnley.

Long has been on loan with Accrington, Rochdale, Portsmouth, Barnsley and MK Dons.

He hasn't made an appearance this season and has fallen out-of-favour completely since Vincent Kompany took charge.

Long's contract runs out this summer, and he will be sble to sign a pre-contract for next season when the January transfer window opens.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson has signed Long before for Barnsley in a loan deal, and it seems he would like to persuade the player to come to Easter Road.

A permanent deal could be done this window, but a loan is also an option.

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

Hibs are crying out for a centre half, and should, as expected, Ryan Porteous leave the club this window, we may need a couple.

The Hibees would only be left with Rocky, young Fish on loan from Man United and veteran Paul Hanlon.

Long has plenty experience and could be a good signing for the club, but it looks like will face competition for his signature.

Can the Hibees get this over the line?? Let's wait and see.....
