It's been revealed tonight that Hibs youth player Yrick Gallantes has been called up to the Phillipines squad!!!
The 18-year-old has travelled to Asia to be part of a 40 man training camp, after he was spotted by Phillipines scout Steve Marsella, once head scout at Easter Road.
Gallantes, of course, has never made a first eam appearance for the Hibees but has been included in the "Azkals" squad.
Speaking to the Edinburgh Evening News, Hibs Head of Academy Coaching Eddie May said:
“It’s a great achievement for Yrick to be give this opportunity given his age. The Philippines is a huge country so to be selected is fantastic for him.
“He was surprised when I told him, but also extremely excited, absolutely over the moon and really keen to get across there.”
