Hibs keeper Mark Oxley set to sign for Southend??

Last updated : 02 July 2016 By Steve Forbes

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley is on the verge of becoming the latest player to leave Hibs this summer.

Oxley is currently in talks with his former Hull City manager Phil Brown, over a move to English League One side Southend United.

The English keeper has been at Easter Road for two years now, but fell out-of-favour last season, losing his place to Conrad Logan.

Reports down south are that a deal is nearly done, with Phil Brown refusing to name the keeper, but only stating that he had worked with him before, and that he didn't play in England.

The 25-year-old originally joined the Hibees on loan from English Premiership side Hull City.

After a season on loan in Edinburgh, Hull didn't renew his contract the following summer, and he signed a two-year-deal with Hibs in June 2015.

New Hibs boss Neil Lennon is willing to let Oxley leave Easter Road, should he agree a deal with Southend. However, with a year still left on his contract, it's unclear wether Hibs will recieve a fee or not.

Should Oxley leave, he will follow fellow keeper Conrad Logan, as well as Farid El Alagui, Chris Dagnall & Kevin Thomson in leaving Easter Road this summer.
