Hibs hand trial to Ivorian keeper Lamine Meite

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has handed a trial to freed Châteauroux goalkeeper Lamine Meite.

The 21-year-old has already been through a stringent test while training at Hibs new £5m state-of-the-art training facility at East Mains, Tranent.

He has been carrying a slight hip injury since playing last season with Châteauroux, but has impressed the Hibees management team enough to be offered a second trial.

If Meite impresses again, he will be offered a contract at Easter Road to fight it out with other young keepers Yves Ma-Kalambay, David Grof and Andy McNeil for the number one jersey.

Hibs are thought to be facing stiff competition for the player's signature with PSG and
Metz thought to be tracking the player's progress.

The French shot stopper would like to remain in
France, but would also like the adventure of coming to Scottish Football.

Meite said:

"My agent deals with most of these things, but if a French club comes in for me, that would be my first choice.

"If that doesn't work out, I would be more than willing to try out football in another country and
Scotland would be a new adventure."
