Hibs have today announced that they have handed a professional contract to young winger David Crawford. The 18-year-old, who was recently voted the Clydesdale Bank’s U19 League “Rising Star” this January, has impressed Hibees manager Colin Calderwood enough to be offered his first ever professional contract. Crawford has signed a one-year-deal with the club, and has admitted he is really excited about the prospect of joining the first team squad next season. Speaking before he plays for the U19 side in the Scottish Youth Cup Semi Final against Rangers at Ibrox tomorrow, he said:
"I've never played at Ibrox before and it will be a really special occasion. Hopefully we can put on a good performance and win - it would be a dream to experience that in the same week that I've signed my first pro contract with Hibs."
