Hibs have entered the race to sign out-of-favour Oldham Athletic striker Adam Rooney.
The 25-year-old has recently fell down the pecking order at Boundry Park, and it's thought Oldham boss Lee Johnson is hoping to get Rooney off the wage bill as he is one of their highest earners.
Rooney only signed for Oldham in the summer, after an impressive spell with Swindon Town went sour.
Despite agreeing a permanent contract with Swindon, after a successful loan spell at the club from Birmingham City, the contract was pulled by new owners at the club, who thought the previous agreed deal was too expensive, after Swindon failed to win promotion to the Championship.
Rooney then started training with Oldham to keep himself fit, before signing a permanent 2-year-deal last summer.
Oldham are apparently open to both a loan move, and a permanent transfer, and the Hibees are said to be keen.
Hibs boss Terry Butcher, of course, managed Rooney before at ICT, where he scored an impressive 53 goals in 120 games and is now hoping to be reunited with his former charge.
If Hibs were to land the player, he would be teaming up with former Swindon strike partner James Collins at Easter Road, following his £200,000 summer move.
The Hibees will face competition for his signature, with some English sides monitoring his situation.
Aberdeen have also been linked, but are said to prefer landing David Goodwillie on loan from Blackburn - should that fail, they see Rooney as ideal.
