Hibs manager Terry Butcher has revealed that the club's interest in Sheffield United winger Jamie Murphy is all but over.
The Hibees were apparently close to landing the player, only for him to break in to the Blades side and go on a goal spree.
It was thought a fee was agreed with the English side, only for manager Nigel Clough to kill the deal, after Murphy's up-turn in fortune.
There was reports earlier today that Butcher was going to go back and try and land the former Motherwell player on loan, but he has now revealed otherwise.
Butcher said:
“Jamie Murphy has scored three in four games. He’ll not be joining us.
“I was very interested in Jamie. But he’s doing very well for Sheffield United and fair play to him. It’s frustrating.
“Last Saturday, before the Dundee United game, I was doing my team lines, had the internet on, and saw that Sheffield United were winning 1-0. I looked up and said, ‘Murphy’s scored again! That’s another one we scratch off the list’.”
