Hibs defender Sol Bamba has today signed for English Championship side Leicester City. The Ivory Coast defender has signed for an undisclosed fee, thought to be around £300,000, which his former club Dunfermline are due 20% of, due to a sell-on clause. The length of contract signed by Bamba at the Foxes isn’t clear yet, as they wait for his international clearance certificate. Bamba is no stranger to Leicester boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, who was his international manager with the Ivory Coast during the last World Cup. 25-year-old Bamba’s contract at Easter Road was up in the summer, with him not expected to sign an extension, Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has cashed in, as he looks to strengthen his squad in the January transfer window. Bamba signed for the Hibees in the summer of 2008, for a bargain £50,000 from 1st division side Dunfermline Athletic. Hibs-Mad would like to take this opportunity to thank big Sol for all his effort in a Hibs jersey and good luck for the future.
