Hibs have today confirmed that defender Ryan Porteous will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
The 23-year-old has turned down a new contract in Leith that is being described as "One of the most lucrative offers in the club's history" and he can speak to other club's in January about a pre-contract move.
Hibs now have a decision to make, do they keep him until the summer and he leaves for free do they sell in January for a highly reduced fee and buy a replacement?
Porteous made his Hibs debut as an 18-year-old in a League Cup tie with Montrose, and has gone on to make 148 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals.
He also had a loan spell with Edinburgh City as a kid, playing 24 times, scoring 3 goals.
There is a number of clubs interested, with Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, Luton Town and Millwall all linked with a move.
The Hibees previously turned down a £1m offer from Millwall back in January 2021.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
Its gutting to see Ryan leave the club, but it's not surprising, the way he has been treated by the Glasgow media and Scottish Referee's is shocking.
Hopefully he sees his future outside of Scottish Football.
Hibs boss Lee Johnson has a decision to make, do we keep a player wanting out until the summer or do we sell for as much as possible in the January transfer window and buy a replacement???
The Hibees defence was already crying out for reinforcements, selling Porto in January makes a lot of sense to us.......
