Hibs have today revealed that they have mutually terminated the contract of defender Paul McGinn.

The 31-year-old only recently signed a new deal at Easter Road, after an appearance clause in his contract triggered an automatic one-year extension.

McGinn joined the Hibees from St Mirren for a six-figure fee thre years ago.

He has went on to make 91 appearances for the club, play in cup finals, play european football and make his Scotland debut since arriving in Leith.

Speaking on the official club website, McGinn said:

“I’m really pleased to get this sorted and glad that Hibs were helpful in getting this over the line, as these things can sometimes drag on.

“It was important to me to be playing regularly and this is a great opportunity for myself.

“I’ve loved my time at Hibs. I’ve worked with and met the best of people. It’s an amazing club."

HIBS-MAD VIEW:

Good luck to Paul, he has been a good servant to the club and always gave 100%

He was one of these players you always got a 7/10 from every week.

However, if Ron Gordon really does want to take us to the "next level" we can see why he has let go.

Hibs will be looking to bring in better players and boost the squad of new boss Lee Johnson in these coming weeks with more new signings.

This frees up wages.
