Hibs have today confirmed that full-back Marijan Cabraja has left the club and returned to his homeland.
The Croatian has signed for the Hibees one time European foes HNK Rijeka for an undisclosed fee, and a sell-on has also been inserted in the deal.
Cabraja signed for the Hibees last summer from Dinamo Zagreb on a three-year-deal
He managed 26 games for the Hibees in his one year in Edinburgh and helped the club qualify for Europe.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs boss Lee Johnson said:
“We’d like to thank Marijan for all his hard work and dedication.
“This transfer works well for both of us and allows Marijan to compete back in his homeland, Croatia. We wish him all the best for the future.”
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
It's sad to see Marijan go, he was well liked at Easter Road.
He started his career well in Scotland, but following the sudden death of his father, his form dipped, which is quite understandable.
As the season continued he lost his place to legend Lewis Stevenson, and it seems like it suits both parties that he returns to his homeland.
We wish Marijan all the very best for the future.
