Hibs have today announced that yet another first-team star has signed a new contract with the club.
Wonderkid Josh Doig has signed a long term deal at Easter Road.
Doig, 19, has signed a new 5-and-a-half-year-deal that keeps time tied to the Hibees until the summer of 2026.
The young left-back has been a revelation since breaking into the Hibees first team last season, and has attracted interest from some massive clubs.
Hibs have already turned down a £2.7m bid from Watford for the defender, and the likes of AC Milan, Chelsea, Man City and Arenal, amongst others, have been linked with the player.
Speaking to the official club website, Doig said:
“Now getting this done puts a real plan in place for me. I love working with everyone here, I’m so happy here and wouldn’t change it for the world.”
Hibs boss Jack Ross added:
“We’re delighted that Josh has signed a new deal with us,” said Jack Ross. “There was a lot of speculation regarding his future in the summer, but he showed a real maturity to deal with a difficult situation.
“We believe he’s one of the top young players in this country and we want to keep him with us to continue his development.”
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW:
This is brilliant news. Josh has been outstanding since he came into the team under Jack Ross last season and is now a mainstay in the team.
Hibs have done well to tie him down and protect their investment, should any bigger clubs come calling in January and beyond.
It's more good news ahead of tommorow's League Cup Semi Final clash with Rangers at Hampden.
