Hibs defender Jay Shields told he can leave the club!!

It's been revealed this morning that Hibs boss John Collins has told defender Jay Shields that he can leave the club.

Shields, 22, has become the latest casualty of the Easter Road dressing room revolt.

Michael Stewart, Simon Brown and now Jay Shields have been told they can leave and if rumours are to be believed Shelton Martis will be joining them.

Collins has told Shields, who has spent the season on loan at first division side
Dundee, that he will not be offered a new contract, when it expires in four weeks.

It's also been revealed that Shields is one of the rebels, who went to Easter Road chairman Rod Petrie about John Collins management style.

Shields said:

"I met with the manager and was I told I was not getting a new deal. It's disappointing but these things happen and we'll have to see what happens now.

"What was disappointing was that he said I might have got a new contract if I had not gone to the chairman.

"I don't think it's fair to single out individuals like that because I didn't even speak when I was in the meeting and there were plenty of others there.

"The manager also said that he couldn't see me getting into the team ahead of Steven Whittaker and, with Kevin McCann doing well, he couldn't have three players in the same position. That's fair enough but it was disappointing that he used the meeting with the chairman as an excuse as well."

"My agent will start speaking to clubs to try and find me something and I will hopefully speak to people like Mark Venus to help put my name forward to clubs down south."
