Hibs have been handed a massive blow today, with the news that towering skipper Rob Jones has landed a two-match suspension, after his booking against Rangers at Ibrox.

Jones, 28, will play in Saturday's Euro crunch fixture away to Motherwell at
Fir Park, but will then miss the following home game against St Mirren and the first game after the SPL split (fixtures still to be decided).

The former
Grimsby stopper picked up his booking in the last few minutes of Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox, handing him his sixth booking of the season and a two game ban.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen is disappointed, but is confident that he has cover for Jones, with both Ian Murray and Martin Canning ready to fill the void left by the 6ft 7in Englishman. Paatelainen said:

"It's disappointing to lose a quality player at any time. It's not an ideal situation but those are the rules and we have plenty of quality players who can fill in.

"Rob is a clean player, he always attacks the ball but sometimes you can be a split-second late and you get a booking. Because of that he'll unfortunately miss out on two games."

A big loss for the Hibees, but Martin Canning already looks like a shrewd bit of business done by Mixu and would have no problem filling in for Jones.
