Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has today revealed that he will allow English forward Clayton Donaldson to leave Easter Road.

Paatelainen is looking to build a new squad at Easter Road and has already let a number of players leave the Hibees this summer.

Patrick Noubissie, Mickael Antoine-Curier, Dermot McCaffrey, Keegan Ayre and Abdel Zarabi have all left Easter Road since the end of the SPL campaign and Donaldson will now be joining them.

Donaldson didn't travel with the Hibs squad as they headed for
Sweden last night for the second leg of the Intertoto Cup clash with IF Elfsborg.

Darlington, Crewe Alexandra, Oldham Athletic and Hartlepool have all been linked with the out-of-favour former York City front man.

The 24-year-old arrived last summer but has struggled with the step up to the SPL from the Blue Square Premier League and it looks like he will be heading back to
England this summer.

He only scored 6 goals, 4 of them penalty's, in 21 games for the Hibees last season, including a hat-trick against
Kilmarnock.

Donaldson still has two years left on his contract at Easter Road, but Hibs are not expected to be difficult to deal with.

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen said:

"I had to balance my squad and unfortunately Clayton did not make the trip.

"Until he leaves he is in my plans but I am willing to listen to offers. There's been some interest, but nothing concrete.

"I'm looking to improve the striking department, midfield and defence. There will be another striker coming in but we need to off-load as well."

There is also a doubt of the future of Hibs full back Thierry Gatheussi, who also didn't travel with the squad yesterday, it looks like he could be the next player shown the door by Paatelainen.
