Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen has today confirmed that former midfielder Craig Rocastle has been handed a trial at Easter Road.

Rocastle, 26, spent some time at the Hibees on loan in 2004 from English giants Chelsea, He became a massive fans favourite, and has been handed a second chance at Hibs.

The English midfielder will train at the clubs new £5m state-of-the-art training facility over the coming weeks in an effort to impress Paatelainen enough to be handed a contract.

He went on to play for Oldham, Sheffield Wednesday and Port Vale after leaving the Hibees.

Hibs have already signed St Mirren right back David Van Zanten on a pre-contract agreement and have former
Gretna attacker Fabian Yantorno completing his rehabilitation at East Mains, with a view to a permanent deal as Mixu looks to re-build the squad at Easter Road.

Mixu said:

"We'd made contact with his agent and then heard he was on a free. I've heard he did very well here last time round and hopefully he is still the player he was then.

"We'll have a couple of training sessions, see how he does and take things from there."
