Hibs boss Colin Calderwood has today admitted that the Hibees have made a contract offer to Andy Webster.
The 28-year-old former Hearts, Wigan, Bristol City and Dundee Utd player was released on transfer deadline day by Rangers, and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring the situation.
Dundee Utd and Aberdeen have both already been ruled out of the running, as they can't afford the 22 times capped Scotland internationalists wages.
According to his agent, who was on the radio last night, Hibs and Hearts are the only clubs to have spoken to the player, but there seems to be a number of clubs waiting in the wings.
Calderwood also confirmed talks had taken place with the player, he said:
“We've had contact.
“The decision is entirely Andy's but I think that would be a superb addition.”
Webster's agent also confirmed that the player will make his decision this Friday.
