Hibs bid for Dunfermline defender Calum Woods rejected

Last updated : 01 September 2009 By Steve Forbes

Hibs are set to make an improved offer for Dunfermline Athletic right back Calum Woods, after their first was rejected by the Pars.

The 22-year-old has been a revelation since signing for the Pars, and Hibs boss John Hughes is keen to fix the problem right back slot at Easter Road.

Former Liverpool youth player Woods has impressed Hughes and assistant Brian Rice, when they been to watch him play.

Hughes and Rice were spotted as Dunfermline took on rivals Raith Rovers at the weekend, and Hibs are set to pounce again before the transfer deadline closes at 5pm.

Woods is in the last year of his two-year-contract at East End Park, and with the Pars fearing they could lose him on a Bosman in January, an improved Hibs bid should be accepted.

Pars chief John Yorkston said:

“A bid was made for Calum just over a week ago, but it was rejected.”
