According to the Daily Record, Hibs have finally made a move for Swindon Town striker Harry McKirdy.
The Hibees had been linked with the prolific hitman, both last season and earlier this summer, with no move apparent.
However, with manager Lee Johnson keen to bolster his squad further, following a stuttering start to the season, it now seems first contact has been made.
Hibs have been having problems in the striker department, with Kevin Nisbet still on the injury table, Chritian Doidge out-of-sorts since returning form his long-term injury, and young Elias Melkersen still adjusting to the Scottish game.
The only other striker option is Gambian Momadou Bojang, who has hardly been given a chance since signing.
25-year-old McKirdy has entered the last year of his contract with the English League Two side, and with a recent discipline incident hanging over his head, they may see this as chance to move the player on.
It's not clear what type of fee Swindon will be after, but the club will have to move quickly with the transfer window closing on Thursday night.
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
It's good to see the club are NOT finished in the market, despite manager Lee Johnson claimig the Hibees had burnt their budget re-signing Martin Boyle.
McKirdy knows where the goals are, and on paper looks an exciting signing.
However, the step-up from League 2 in England to the Scottish Premiership is quite a big step, despite what the arrogant southerners tell us, and McKirdy would need to hit the ground running.
We here at Hibs-Mad don't agree with the notion that we haven't signed some good players this window, with the likes of Tavares, Bojang and Miller being written off by sections of our support despite playing just a few games, but Hibs are also screaming out for a left sided centre half and quality midfielder, let's hope we have an eye on all three.
