Hibs appoint Chris Hogg as new club captain

Hibs have today revealed that Chris Hogg will replace the departed Rob Jones as club captain.

Jones left the Hibees last week and joined English Championship side Scunthorpe in a £500,000 deal, and new Hibs boss John Hughes had a decision to make, regarding the appointment of a new captain.

It was between three players and Hogg came out on top in front of Ian Murray and John Rankin.

Hogg, 24, joined the Hibees from Ipswich Town in 2005 and has now played over 100 games in a green and white shirt, and has matured in to a solid centre half along the way.

The ex England Youth captain is delighted with the honour, and speaking to the club’s official website, he said:

“I feel this is a natural progression for me, an added responsibility that I’m ready to undertake. I have been with Hibernian for a few years now and have learned much about the great traditions of this football club. I know how important Hibernian is to supporters and I have learned from them about the achievements of former Club Captains; my hope is that I can add positively to these achievements.

“I’ve always tried to be a good professional and lead by example, so certainly in that respect nothing will change. It is though a job I will take very seriously, it is a great honour to be Captain at Hibernian and I will do everything in my power to help the club achieve the success it deserves.”

Well done Chris, well deserved.
