Hibs have today announced that they have agreed a new, 5-year long, strategic partnership with the newly named FC Edinburgh (formerly Edinburgh City).
The link-up will see youngsters head to the new Meadowbank Stadium on loan, like quite a few others over previous seasons.
The likes of Innes Murray, Ryan Porteous and Josh Campbell have had spells with Edinburgh.
It's also been agreed that FC Edinurgh will host an annual pre-season friendly between the clubs.
Hibs have, of course announced previous link-up's with other clubs, including Brighton, Stenhousemuir and Charleston Battery.
However, it now seems the Charleston deal is the only one still going strong.
Also part of this historic deal, is tha Hibernian Women will now play their home games at Meadowbank from this season.
Speaking to the official club website, Hibs CEO Ben Kensell said:
“We’re delighted to have agreed this partnership with FC Edinburgh. It brings together two clubs that are in the heart of the community and will help both achieve success both on and off the pitch.
“Firstly, I am thrilled that we’ve been able to bring Hibernian Women back home to Edinburgh, exactly where they belong. We saw how popular the Edinburgh Derby was when they played at Easter Road – with over 5,500 supporters in attendance – so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for our supporters to attend their games. Having a home at Meadowbank will hopefully do that and help the Women’s game grow.
“Alongside this, it provides a great pathway for our young players and will help us work closely with supporters in the community, both of which are incredibly vital for the future of both clubs.
“The five-year partnership shows a great commitment between the two teams and I’m sure we will both flourish because of it.”
HIBS-MAD VIEW:
Fantastic news for the club.
FC Edinburgh have been slowly climbing the Scottish pyramid and are now in League One.
To have our kids get that kind of exposure to first team footbaall is brilliant.
Then there is the cracking news that the Hibernian Woemn have a new home.
It's fantastic to finally see the Ladies brought under club ownership and something that will hopefully see them head to the next level.
