The rumour mill down Leith is in over drive this morning, with the news of Rob Jones possibly getting the move he wants. Apparently Leeds Utd have doubled their original offer and have now bid £800,000 for the Hibees captain.

Only last Wednesday the Hibs defender's agent, Kevin Smith, went running to the paper and told of big Rob's unrest at Easter Road, when Hibs failed to offer an acceptable wage rise that he claims ex boss Tony Mowbray promised the player, if he proved himself at SPL level, after his £150,000 move from Grimsby Town.

The agent also claimed that Jones, 27, was unhappy Hibs had turned down
Leeds initial £400,000 bid for him and indicated the player wanted to go.

The 6ft 7in defender then claimed a couple of days later that he wanted to stay at Easter Road.

Now message boards across the Hibs online community are in overdrive, after suggestions
Leeds have offered £800,000 and that Hibs have accepted.

However this has been countered with the news that Dunfermline's domineering centre half Souleymane Bamba would be brought in immediately to replace the out going Jones.

Bamba, 22, has been a revelation at
East End Park, after he arrived in Fife on a free transfer following his release from French giants Paris St Germain.

The defender impressed during a trial match for the Pars against Spanish La Liga side Osasuna and was immediately offered a deal.

The Ivory Coast U-20 international is out of contract at the end of the season and he has indicated he wants to move on to a bigger a club. If Hibs ARE interested, it surely wouldn't take too much of an offer to persuade the Pars to sell up????

Whether this rumour is true remains to be seen, but you never know and im sure we will find out soon enough if it is or not.
