Crewe Alexandra target Hibs forward Clayton Donaldson

Last updated : 24 February 2008 By Steve Forbes

Hibs forward Clayton Donaldson has emerged as a transfer target for English League One side Crewe Alexandra it was revealed today.

Donaldson, 24, is thought to be on the radar of
Crewe boss Steve Holland as the player has struggled to hold down a regular place at Easter Road.

The English forward was signed from Conference side
York City in July but has struggled with the step up to SPL level, despite scoring 6 goals in 14 games.

The £150,000 arrival of Colin Nish has pushed Donaldson even further down the pecking order at the Hibees and he now finds himself behind Nish, Steven Fletcher, Benji and Dean Shiels for a starting jersey.

Donaldson is contracted to Hibs until 2010 but
Crewe could make their move before the loan transfer window for lower league English clubs closes next month, with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
