Cillian Sheridan on trial with Hibs

It's been revealed today that Hibs have taken former Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan on trial, with a view to a permanent move.

Sheridan has recently been training with MLS side Seattle Sounders after leaving Bulgarian giants CSKA Sofia.

The Republic of Ireland international broke through the ranks at Celtic, and made an instant impact, scoring a few goals in the early part of his Hoops career.

He was then loaned out to a number of clubs to gain first team experience, spending time with Motherwell, Plymouth Argyle and St Johnstone respectively.

Sheridan's time with St Johnstone was his most productive, scoring 10 goals in 18 appaearnces, in all competitions.

On his return to Celtic he was told he wouldn't get a regular game, so asked for a move away from Parkhead, this resulted in a £400,000 move to Bulgarian cracks CSKA Sofia on a 3-year-deal.

The 6ft 5in striker's time in Bulgaria was quite productive as well, with him hitting double figures in his first season, which also included a couple of goals in the Europa League.

22-year-old Sheridan is still contracted to Sofia, despite claims that some of their players did not recieve wages for a couple of months. He is apparently their highest paid player, and they are keen to get him off their wage bill, as he apparently earns £10,000 a week. He would be available for a nominal fee, or on a loan deal.

He has spent the last few months training with, and playing for, the reserve side of MLS club Seattle Sounders, to keep himself fit.

Despite constant rumours of his departure to either Nottingham Forest or Birmingham City as Assistant Manager, Hibs boss Colin Calderwood still seems to be scouring the market to bolster his squad, should he decide to stay at Easter Road.
