Burnley boss Owen Coyle has today slapped in a £2.75m bid for Hibs and Scotland forward Steven Fletcher.
Fletcher, 22, is already a target for Burnley's Lancashire rivals Blackburn Rovers, who are also interested in the £4m rated hitman.
Coyle is working with the smallest budget in the Premiership, and he may look to Scotland for more than one signing as he looks to build the Clarets in to a force in the English top division.
Burnley have already failed in a bid to land Derek Riordan, when he re-signed for the Hibees last year, and just this week lost out on ex Dundee Utd and St Johnstone forward Jason Scotland.
Hibs turned down an offer of £3m from Celtic during the January transfer window, so the likeliness of Burnley's bid being accepted is slim, as Hibees chief Rod Petrie looks for closer to the £4m mark.
As well as Blackburn Rovers and Burnley, Wigan Athletic, Newcastle United and long term admirers Middlesbrough are keeping tabs on the Scotland forward's situation.
New Celtic assistant manager Mark Venus recently played down suggestions that the Parkhead club were set to re-ignite their interest in Fletcher.
