It has emerged today that Belgian cracks Anderlecht are on the trail of Hibs Moroccan wizard Merouane Zemmama.

The 25-year-old has spent the last 12 months on loan at United Arab Emirates side Al Shaab, following visa problems for his young wife to enter the UK.

Hibs are currently in discussions with the powers that be over the situation and are confident of the player coming back to Easter Road in the summer.

It's understood that Zemmama caught the eye of an Anderlecht scout while on international duty, who had been dispatched to watch Clermont Foot defender Mehdi Benatia, who was up against Barcelona striker Samuel Eto'o in a World Cup qualifying game against Cameroon.

The scout returned to his Anderlecht bosses and handed over a glowing dossier on the little Hibs midfielder.

It would take a hefty fee for Hibs to sell Zemmama, as he currently still has 2 years left of a 5-year-contract.
